Hi all!
Does anyone here like candles? I absolutely love them!! :) What are some of your fave. scents? I like a light scent such as vanilla or sometimes a stronger one like pumpkin for the fall season. I honestly don't like the electric candles, for me they're less fun. I like the actual lighting of the candle, looking at it burn and enjoying the smell of it. :)

you know... i'm the other way round.
i've a thing about candles- i can't sit near them.

not so much a phobia, i really have no problems with others in the room using them, i just can't go near them myself.

I love them. Especially smelly-good ones. There's something very sensual and romantic about candles. I don't really use them while alone though. Perhaps I should start. Perhaps it would ease the mind.

The time keeper..Yeah, candles aren't for everyone..I know some people that are afraid of them however as long as you're careful there's nothing to fear.
Since I'm single, I burn a candle by myself all the time. What are some of your fave. smells blind_guardian?

I love yankee candle tarts that I put in my burner. Then I love the big ones that I can burn forever in the jars. I love pink sand, christmas cookie, beach walk, and on and on.

Oh beach walk is one of my favorites. I love lots of different senses of candles. Do any of you blind folks light the candles yourself and if so how do you do that? I usually make a sighted person do it but if any of you have any good suggestions of how you do that that would be great.

Hi,
i love candles, but I really don't have a good place to put them, but I've found that those yankee Candle pots with the little wax things that you can heat in there really do smel nice.
I tried the Sensy candles, and both my wife and I were alergic to them.

I absolutely adore candles. I love tropical/natural scents. I can't remember the company, but the candle was called Ocean Breeze, for almost three years that was the only scent I'd buy. I used to make candles too. I also have a thing for fire, so... that may help explain a little to why I adore them also...

I like apple scented candles.
As for the best way to light candles, with a match you need to act quickly so you don't burn yourself, but it is possible.
Set out everything so you are ready once you strike the match on the box. Strike it, and set the box away from the candle. Pick up the candle with the other hand and tilt it on a 45 degree angle. With the other hand take the match and put it inside the candle and feel for the wick with the match. This takes practice. Once you find it hold it there for about three seconds and take the match out. Blow out the match or drop it in water, and set the candle up straight wherever you want it to be.

I've always used a lighter..you can get a long lighter or a regular cigorette one. I use the reg. lighter for when the candle is new then I move on to the longer lighter.
Hope this helps!

I tried a long lighter once but didn';t have much luck. For some reason the lighting of the candle makes me a bit nervous probably is why I have a hard time doing it. I'll just have to practice and will probably find a way that works for me.

I had to light candles on my birthday cake two years in a row in Minnesota with matches. haven't tried scented candles yet, but I'd like to since I love lavender. No matches this time. *cringes* I'd rather use the lighter. am wondering which is easier?

I learned to do it with matches before the lighter, which is probably why I'm more comfortable with them. My family thinks I'm crazy, but what can I say. Lol

I do love the smell of candles. It's nothing to scared off, lighting it is also a easy task, in my opinion. while I was small, while there were no batary emergency lights at home, we use to light the candles while there was no electricity.

it's helpful for me to feel the wick placement before I strike the match-helps me get the wick lit with less chance of scorching the wax or container
candles with three wicks are a pain in the butt, though-haven't ever been able to get more than two lit
